Teri Caserta is a Gold Star Mother who lost her son Petty Officer 3rd Class Brandon Caserta, 21, June 28, 2018, after years of alleged bullying that Brandon had endured from his commanding officers, as well as his struggle to get mental health treatment. Teri and her husband Patrick launched a four-and-a-half-year legislative effort in Washington, D.C., to ensure that the tragedy they had suffered wouldn’t be repeated.
They created The Brandon Act to save the lives of our military service members, military families, and children from suicide. Their mission is to stop the suicide epidemic across the Armed Forces.
December 2021 President Biden signed the NDAA which included The Brandon Act empowers service members to be able to ask for and get the help they need for any reason, in any environment, without retaliation, and without going through their chain of command. TheBrandonAct.org
